Hey - do you want to get involved in Trans Melbourne Gender Project? If so, we’d love to have you on board.
There are many ways you can get involved. You can:
- join our email list: our email list is a great way to chat, exchange information, and keep up to date with the latest TMGP news
- come along to one of our social events: we hold a range of social events. They’re lots of fun and are open to all (including partners). Past social events have included 2005’s inaugural TranzFest (an annual picnic for differently-gendered folk and their allies) and our fundraising show at Glitch Bar
- attend a social get together: we run social meetings on the first and thurd Monday of every month. We welcome all new perspectives, including yours!
- help with any of our gender projects or suggest your own: our gender projects raise awareness on how to respect and support the needs of differently gendered folk. If you would like to help out (in as big or small a way as you want) or you have your own project ideas to contribute, we’d love to hear from you. In fact, you can always just turn up to one of our gender project meetings (see below)
- get involved in some other way we haven’t thought of yet: if you can think of some other way in which you can get involved with TMGP, please let us know…
Gender project meetings
In 2007, TMGP has changed its policy on meetings. We are no longer having fortnightly project meetings at the City Library. Instead, we are holding meetings irregularly to organise specific projects. For example, the Toil/Art project will have separate meetings for those involved in Toil/Art. (Toil/Art is a project aiming to draw attention to the need for gender neutral toilets in Melbourne through media art, a cafe/restaurant questionnaire on facilities and eventually, the production of a map of inner-city Melbourne with trans/gendervariant friendly toilets marked on it.)
If you would like to come along to one of these meetings, please come along to the social get togethers on the first and third Mondays of each month, and ask someone. Alternatively, regular bulletins about upcoming meetings are posted to the TMGP email list. Please feel free to join it.
Note: We always make an effort to have meetings in spaces with gender-neutral toilet facilities.
