‘Guide for Parents: Raising a Gender-Variant Child’
Written by the Children’s National Medical Center Children’s Hospital (Washington D.C.). Focused on young children but still worth a look – contains some good information for parents. You can download it here (84K PDF file; requires Adobe Reader or an equivalent to view).

P-FLAG Victoria
If you identify as lesbian or gay (or think you might be lesbian or gay), your family may find P-FLAG (Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) useful. P-FLAG is also very trans friendly and welcomes families of trans people. This support group meets monthly.
